2024 Word of the Year
Grow?
One word repeats in my mind over and over right around the end of every year and is confirmed right around the beginning of a new year. And for 2024, it’s GROW!
In a previous blog, I mentioned how I hear this word from God. (And if you want to know how I know it’s God, subscribe for exclusive members only blog access for the breakdown).
The word for 2023, was “family” and I know the word for 2024 is “grow.” I also found my peace with this word when I specifically heard it is to “grow with God” and not on my own.
You see, people I know and trust have been asking me if I plan to grow the business now that we’ve recovered and worked our way back from the effects of the pandemic. Honestly, I was scared to grow, because I didn’t want to become the kind of person I was before the pandemic when we were growing too fast and all over the place. I didn’t want to exhaust myself or my team to grow the business until I realized that specifically, God was calling me to grow it not based on our own skills and strength, but through His power and with His strength so that He may receive the glory.
My daily morning devotions confirmed:
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 1:6
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.” -Colossians 1:9-10
“Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.” -1 Timothy 4:15
I believe that God wants us to not necessarily just grow in size or sales as a business, but really grow professionally and personally as people. To really grow in our connections, deepening our relationships, and bringing peace to our world. With this word as our guide for the year, we can create systems and strategies to help us do this and trust that He will take care of the rest.
I’m excited for this next year and what we will do together when I allow Him to challenge myself and my team out of our comfort zones, and closer to Him.
What’s your word for the year? What’s that repeating whisper on your heart that maybe you’ve been resisting, but once you prayerfully accept it, God gives you the peace and confirmation that that’s it!
finding peace by piece:
Don’t come up with YOUR word, but HIS word for YOU.
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” -Colossians 2:6-7
