2023 Word of the Year - Family

Our word for the year 2023, was family.

At the end of every year, I spend a lot of time praying and asking God to give me a word to guide our company for the next year. Ironically, at the beginning of 2020 he gave me the word “peace” and that got me thinking it was going to be a peaceful year. And we all know, it was such a tumultuous year, but oddly in the pandemic is when I really felt and shared God’s peace through the struggles.

By the end of each year, I always find myself smirking and saying, “Wow, God. You really knew that was going to be THE word huh?! So what’s it going to be next?”

For 2023, He put it on my heart that the word would be family.

It was about establishing and caring for our chocolate family and their families at home, so that we could then better serve our chocolate friends and their families from a place of peace and love.

And 2023 really was the year about family. We went from 4 full timers to 7 (plus our part-timers and subcontractors) and further discovered our strengths and excelled in our areas. We learned more about each others’ lives outside of work and even found ways to make work benefit and not take away from family.

The things we created this year were also centered around family and looking for ways we could bring loved ones together using chocolates. Whenever we created specials or celebrated each and every holiday, we kept the family in mind. From Movie Night bars for family movie nights at home to custom colored sprinkles as you celebrated graduations with family and friends, to creating dairy free vegan options for you to still include those members of your family.

We came up with specials for the young, the old, and everyone in between so no one in the family would be left out. We even worked with Door Dash to get delivery to your family from the comfort of home. We donated to at least one non-profit charity every single month supporting families in need. We opened our chocolate home to tours with families and work families and spruced up our renovated outdoor space to invite families to stay and make memories outside with our new iced chocolate drink.

Looking back, it truly was an incredible year focused on family and I encourage everyone to pray and ask God to help guide you and your business or work, or maybe even your personal life having one word to focus on.

I loved the word this past year and if you need one for the new year, give “family” a try.
