The Halekulani Hotel Room
What is your favorite hotel ROOM in Hawai`i?
2021 was the first time I had the opportunity to stay at the Halekulani Hotel and found the set up and decor of their rooms perfect at every angle and every turn.
For me, this room has it all. It is a dream set up and super clean like it’s sister hotel where I often stay (the Halepuna), but a little bigger, a little grander, and with a property full of restaurants and delicious food.
Every year at the beginning of the year, I stay at a hotel to work on my word of the year, my vision and goals for the year for both work and home, and start the planning and filling in my calendar etc. You can read all about it in my wellness blogs.
This year, I kicked it off at my favorite…The Halekulani Hotel! This room literally takes my breath away and my eyes off of my screen as I just want to soak in every minute of my 24 hours.
One of the best dinners I have ever had in my life was at Le Mer for a friend’s wedding. The best cocktail (though I don’t drink) and live jazz experiences I had was at Lewer’s Lounge over 15 years ago. I’ve mentioned before my favorite breakfast, brunch buffet, and tea spot that I wish I could do weekly is Orchids. And a really great buffet on island is House Without A Key. That basically sums up all the restaurants on the Halekulani property. Oh and of course the pool side menu was fantastic and their bakery located across the street at the Halepuna Hotel (read the food blog about that one here) is a favorite too!
Everything about this hotel is service at it’s best, but here under “places,” I just want to talk about the hotel ROOM for a moment. There are so many detail that need to get some attention.
The sliding shutters for the balcony doors and the closet. The abstract art on the wall. The little snack corner with the gold shelves, the lights, the pull out drawers for the Nespresso machine, and even the Tiffany teal blue mini refrigerator! The little lamps, the textured carpet, the cute chair, the wallpaper, the bed headboard and that large gold rectangular mirror above. The lights under the nightstand with the “Living” magazine to browse through. The heavy lamp with a glass base. The white tiles in the bathroom, large tub, embroidered towels and the crystal lights. The entrance way with a little light up shelf and a seashell on top. The golden drawer handles, the couch coffee table, the trim around the ceilings, and the closet that automatically turns on the light for you when it senses movement.
And all of this is in their basic room!!!
I think my heart would stop if I could just peek in or walk through one of their suites!!!!
I love experiences and when the whole experience, the look, feel, sound, smell, and taste of everything comes together, I am in heaven. How appropriate their hotel name means the “House befitting heaven.” Welcomed with a cooled down room at the perfect temperature, soft and well made beds and clean furniture to run your hands over, the sound of classical music playing on speakers somewhere filling the room, the smell of their soaps and lotions, and even the taste of a welcome fruit and chocolates sealed the deal. It made me say out loud, “I am so happy. I love it here.”
I wish I could stay here all of the time, but for one day, this is beyond my wildest dreams. I shared this experience with my husband and I told him what makes it all the more incredible to me is, just being here in the quiet, perfectly clean, distraction free space where I can hear live music and laughs below at night and in the early morning the sound of just the ocean waves. It really connects me to our Creator who makes everything beautiful and who knows all of the little details that make us happy.
I get happy about gold trim, a comfy chair, a nice piece of art, and even the white shutters all over makes me smile. He knows that I love a place like this. It reminds me how real He is. How good He is. And that only He knows the desires of my heart and can make anything happen. And if this is earth, can you imagine the room in the home he is preparing for us in heaven?
Just 10+ years ago, I never thought I would be able to stay in a place like this. It is a dream come true and I sometimes still pinch myself that I have the blessed opportunity to enjoy staying in my favorite hotel room for 24 hours.
I write all of this to encourage you to to never limit God. Keep envisioning, praying, asking, and believing you can be in your happy place one day. Who knows…you may just find yourself in your own “Halekulani Hotel” room one day. Wherever your “house befitting heaven” is.
