Residence Inn By Marriott - Kapolei
Looking for a great place with everything you need for families? This is a great option for a staycation in Kapolei!
Chill.
That’s how I would describe it. I hadn’t been to Kapolei in a long time and wanted to venture away from the city and feel like I was somewhere else for a while. I researched the hotels and this one had great reviews and was booked even in an off season, but it didn’t feel “busy!” It felt like an apartment of families, even dogs! Really chill.
This hotel is new, clean, and the people who work here really seem happy to see you! We arrived early and hung out in the lobby while we waited and it was really nice. They had a convenient little snack store and a restaurant inside. And then when we got to our room, it was huge! I felt like we needed to invite more family and friends over.
And this was the “smallest” room: Studio, 1 King, Sofa Bed.
A full couch that opened up into a bed, a TV that swiveled so we could watch from the living room side or the bed side, a very long desk, mini dining table, and a full kitchen! Like everything…coffee maker, stove top, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, dishes, paper towels, dish soap…everything.
And now I realized why this place was so popular! Even though you might not be on a staycation, if you’re waiting for you house to be renovated, done tenting, or can’t quite move into your next home, that’s what other families were doing here. They were “living” in this hotel.
There was a laundry room, a gym, wide open outdoor seating, a pretty cool fire pit table, a BBQ area, a grassy area, and of course the pool. A couple of food trucks also parked just out front of the hotel for the convenience of food and it felt good to support a small local business as they made your meal right in front of you.
What I liked about this pool was it felt spacious, open, and it had a really large shallow area with bubbling water and that can entertain a little kid for a long time. If you have kids under 5, this is the kind of small and simple and shallow pool you dream about.
But the best thing about it might have been that breakfast was served every day downstairs. Super convenient and good to go too. I even saw kids grabbing their breakfast before heading off to school. And if I can be honest, I got kind of excited about getting one of those small boxes of Frosted Flakes for myself!
What I valued about this hotel experience, which was very different from most of my staycations, was that it gave me a glimpse of how these Marriott Residence Inns operate. What to expect. And it was great for families who really just want to chill. If you plan to travel a lot with family, this gives you an idea of what will be available for you if you’re going to book with another Residence Inn By Marriott. Comfort, consistency, and knowing what you can count on can mean the world to busy parents.

If you’re bringing the family, enjoy cooking and chilling on the hotel property. But if you want to get out and explore Kapolei, this is also a great way to do it and bring back the leftovers to the room!
