New School Year. New Routines.
Found out tonight that second graders have a lot more homework.
It’s 7:50pm and my daughter sits on my desk next to me while I work and she is still doing her work. Well, honestly we played after school until 5:30pm, then had dinner, so she got a late start. Guess we need to start homework sooner and as the teacher recommended, in a distraction free setting.
This reminds me that it’s a new school year and so new routines need to be in place.
For my son, it’s also a new school and he will now have to pack his own snack since it will no longer be provided like it was in preschool. That means he needs to prep his school snack drawer too (like big sis) so he can easily pack his bag from his peanut-free approved choices every night.
Lesson Learned: New year, new teacher, new school = new changes at home.
Opportunity Now: Make the changes in our daily routines to ensure success.
Hope For Our Future: By supporting our kids at home, we are supporting their learning and growth in school.
erin’s experience tip: It changes every year so be focused and flexible. :)
