Framed Family Photos

Ever see those beautiful professional family photos framed and mounted on the walls in people’s homes?

As our kids continue to grow up so fast, I understand why people take the time to capture them through the years and hang photos on their walls. I am so glad we also invested in professional photos of our family over the years. It takes me back to those moments and that time that we will never get back again.

My favorite photos, are the ones where we just let the kids be kids, get dirty, and play. That’s when their non-awkward and authentic smiles come out and the photographer captures the candid moments. Below are a few recommendations of photographers we personally know and LOVE.

These most recent photos were taken by Michael McDermott of Vivir Photography who was super patient and worked with a family of 16 of us! He caught a lot of combinations of family members in a quick 1-2 hours before the little ones got really dirty.

There are a ton of great places to take photos, but if you have little kids, pick someplace close to home, cool, outdoors, and with a nice backdrop 360 so no matter which direction the photographer has to turn to get the mobile guys, those photos can work! We took these at Koko Head Botanical Garden.

And for their clothes, we let the kids pick. (Their outfits are from Nordstrom) We didn’t want them grumpy before a shoot forced to wear stuff they didn’t like. As for the adults, we got our outfits from Nordstrom Rack.

Don’t sweat the small stuff or it will show on your faces in the photos. Have fun and let the photographer do their thing while you focus on being in the moment with the family.

And these photos, they are going in those nice gold frames from Target!

erin’s tip:
Find a photographer you feel comfortable with, dress in something you will feel comfortable in, choose a time of day that’s cool, and then have fun! The candid and REAL shots are the ones we treasure the most!
