Rough Road Ahead
Whenever I see these bright orange signs on the side of the road, I chuckle to myself. Especially the “rough road ahead” one because it’s like God reached His arm down and placed it right on my path in the direction I’m heading. Sort of like a reminder that it’s not going to be easy.
“Is it ever God?” I ask while tilting my chin up to the heavens with a smirk on my face.
This particular sign was sitting in front of our shop building at the beginning of the new year and I passed by it daily on my way to work. I whispered to myself “Yup, I know God. Here we go.” As a small business owner, wife, mom, friend, student, volunteer, etc. etc. etc. it’s never easy. For all of us, there are times when the road is extra rough. But with every year that passes, it’s like we start to get used to the sign and the rough patches and expect that it won’t always be smooth driving.
I must say though that knowing I have God in my life and working on my mindset has taught me that:
1) God is always faithful and can see the whole road ahead of us so we need to trust in Him.
2) We must enjoy the journey and learn and grown from it…even when it’s rough.
Don’t worry so much about just getting to the destination. All of this is a temporary time of navigating whatever He’s allowed to be in front of us.
Do you feel like there’s a “rough road ahead” of you?
Let’s find peace by piece in remembering that God is always with us along the way and He can help us through the rough times, that may be there to help us to learn and grow too.
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…” -Isaiah 43: 1-3
