Lobbies Like This

It is lobbies like this that make me gasp, stop walking, and take a moment to soak it all in. The contrast of textures from the wood to the carpet, the high ceilings with recessed lights, the oversized windows with thick heavy curtains, the large pots with real thriving healthy plants, and the warm and comforting chairs that invite me to just sit in the lobby and want to wait.

Beautiful places and spaces have always captured my heart and made me appreciate whoever the creative geniuses are who took the time to envision this and brought it to life.

This is the lobby at the new Ko`ula high rise in Ward that we quickly passed through as our friends showed us to their new home for a pool party play date. After all, lobbies are a place to wait and we didn’t have to wait, though this space had me wanting to sit here for a while.

The landscape around Ward / Kaka`ako is vastly changing with more and more shiny high rise condos popping up like this, each one trying to outdo the next. And though I wish I could hang out in all of their lobbies, I am reminded the one I most want to be in one day, is just inside the pearly gates.
