It’s Hot
“It’s hot!”
That’s all my husband and I have been saying for what feels like the hottest summer ever here in Hawai`i. Honestly, it’s the heat that makes us fussy, makes us want to find an air conditioned place and just stay put, and what we’ve been complaining about the most. We want to do things, but sometimes don’t because it’s just too hot!
Yes, there are definitely moments when we are really grateful to be living in beautiful Hawai`i and we want to run and go, go, go under the blue skies and chase those white puffy clouds, but instead, we are discouraged by the heat, watching the sweat drip down our face onto dried up ground at our feet, and stay put. We feel stuck waiting for it get cooler.
It’s like this work horse I saw on a farm who found a spot of shade and just hung out there to get some relief. I wanted to hop this fence and run and sit next to him under that tree.
It was as if God was saying in that moment to take a break. Stop and rest in the shade and take it easy. You don’t always have to run and go, go, go, but you can also enjoy things slowly, save your energy, and trust in Him for His timing during this season.
What do you feel God is telling you take a rest from? Maybe even to just be patient a little longer? Or hold off doing and conserve the energy you have now?
Let’s find peace by piece in His timing and maybe take it a little bit easier. By taking time to rest, we are saying we trust in Him and will let Him be in control while it’s hot!
