Hard Things

Though I took this selfie while on a beautiful CRUISE ship going through Glacier Bay, I was not CRUISING!

I took this photo to remind my selfie of this moment that I could one day look back on, and be proud that I got through a hard thing…going back to school. I’m smiling, but my brain is also exhausted trying to understand “Advanced Quantitative Statistical Research & Analysis,” while seasick, wrapping up another 15 page paper, and trying to get at least an 85% on the exam since a B- leads to academic probation.

Do a selfie check. Are you smiling because you’re doing something you felt God told you to do and it feels crazy?

I write this as I am 1.5 years into my long program that I took a leap of faith to do when I felt God calling me to get my PhD in Psychology and sent me specifically to this school for a focus on Organizational Behavior. I received confirmation after confirmation (that’s a whole other story), but as I struggled to adjusting to college work again, learning how to navigate online school, and balance it with working my business and raising a family, I often questioned God if I should keep going? Was this what he really wanted me to do right now? Because this was a hard thing!

And it was if he asked back, “What? Did you think it would be easy? I’m not going to just let you CRUISE!” (LOL God has a sense of humor)!

He reminded me that WITH HIM, I can do hard things, and so can you!

Are you trying to do a hard thing?

Let’s find peace by piece in taking it one step at a time with God. Don’t stop praying and asking for guidance on His plans for you asking for wisdom, humility, and the help that you need.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30
