Elevator Buttons

“What floor?”

It’s what people usually ask you as you get into the elevator with them since that’s why you got in…you’re trying to go somewhere. And if you don’t push the elevator buttons and say where you want to go, then you may not get there and instead find yourself riding up and down with others who know where they are going.

In this particular elevator in a hotel in Seattle, I saw two buttons I normally don’t see…floor 8.5 and 13. That 8.5 had me so curious and I really wanted to push it to see what was there. Who gets to go between floor 8 and 9 I wondered?

But that wasn’t the floor with the room we were assigned to.

You see, sometimes God has a plan for us and wants us to go to 11 or 16 and not 8.5 or 13. That’s for someone else and that’s okay because at the end of the day, He has prepared a room for each of us.

Are you ever curious about what other people are doing or where they are going and wonder why God hasn’t assigned you instead?

Let’s find peace by piece in knowing that He has a perfect plan for the assignment He has given us and at the end of the day, we are all headed to the same floor up above, where he has prepared enough room for ALL of us.

“My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” -John 14:2
