Black Thumb
The opposite of having a green thumb is having a black thumb. And that’s what I have!
I LOVE plants, but they always seem to not survive with me.
EXCEPT, when they are put in this one spot in my house or more particularly, this one single spot on my bathroom floor.
I’d watch for years as plants in my house around me come and go, and truthfully yes, I should probably water them more, but don’t make it a routine or priority. But no matter what, the one plant I kept in this special spot, not only kept on living, but thriving.
I thought maybe it was the type of plant so I swapped it out and same thing!
It must have been in a spot with just the right amount of sunlight and….aha, water! Ah that’s it! The plant in this spot was getting water from the shower since it was at the edge on the ground right at the perimeter of our open shower where it had a chance to get some of the accidental overflow that we shot out or at the very least, the mist from the moisture in the air.
This one thriving green plant had survived despite my black thumb. It’s as if God was reminding me that we need Him. We need to stay close to God, the source, and He will nourish us. Even if the world forgets us or we are left in the care or under the supervision of someone with a “black thumb,” if we stay near, He can still shower His love on us.
Do you need to get closer to God? Move yourself or request to be on the spot on the floor by the shower.
Let’s find peace by piece knowing God can provide…even if we have a black thumb.
“That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.” -Psalm 1:3
