Team Bonding - Hawai`i Escape Challenge

I didn’t know if I should put this under “places” I love or as an idea for team bonding for work, but either way if you need an idea for team bonding or a suggestion for a fun place to bond, Hawai`i Escape Challenge was awesome!!!

We went to the location in Uptown Pearlridge for a team bonding event and had a blast!

When getting together a bunch of part time crew working different shifts who’ve never met, it’s sometimes hard to get the conversations rolling. But when you lock everyone in a room for 60 minutes with the same one goal to get out, you have no choice, but to start communicating and working together. :p

And work together they did!

It was so incredible to watch this fairly new group work as a team. They jumped in immediately to the task, but yet were so calm, respectful, encouraging and really trusted each other from the get-go! It was truly a collaborative success! :)

We did the “Nuclear Launch” mission and I personally loved it because the room was clean and the mission felt serious, but not bloody or scary.

The team got out with 15 minutes of the 60 minutes to spare and without asking for a single clue from the game master! Impressive.

This is a really great activity for team bonding in a clean and central location with lots of parking, a short window of 1 hour and maybe 15 minutes prior needed, and places to eat after.

I did an escape room experience like this over 5 years ago with my team back then and stepped back and watched how they worked together and it was so rewarding. This time, I jumped in with them and had a ton of fun with the young folks! :)

Don’t forget to have fun for “work” too!

erin’s tip

Plan one team bonding event a year. Just to get “out of the office” or the “chocolate kitchen” and create a memory together. It’s a nice ESCAPE! :p
