Starting A Business (part 1)
Want to start a business?
But how do you start?
It feels like more than ever, people are wanting to start their own businesses and have been asking me if I teach classes or can share more about the process. I am definitely not an expert, but am willing to help based on my experiences. But, honestly I kind of forgot so am “starting a business” so I can walk beside you through this step by step. Again, disclaimer, I am not God. But I do believe He has the answer for you.
So let’s start with things that begin with the letter, “P.”
You will need a Pen or Pencil and Paper.
Then we will press on with Prayer. Passion. Purpose. (aka God’s Plans).
Following this blog, will be a lot of Perseverance.
Prayer
Start with prayer. Every day, ask God to reveal His plans for you and read the word to find out what stands out to you. I put a (!) punctuation mark in my Bible whenever I feel like God is speaking to me. I found that the more I read, the more I recognize “God’s voice” and certain scriptures and messages just stand out. Start in the Bible. This could take a while so keep on praying.
Passion
Write down what you love to do. What did you always love to do? Even if it seems so insignificant or it was something you only did way back when you were five years old. Where did you love to go? What did you read? What did you love to learn about? What kind of people did you always find yourself drawn to help? There’s no wrong answer here. Take note and jot it all down without thinking too much. Just let your heart flow onto the pages and don’t worry about what anyone else may think.
Purpose
I believe God has a plan and a purpose for each and every one of us. Remember there’s only one me and only one YOU so YOUR purpose is not going to be exactly like anyone else’s. What do you seem to naturally do better than others? Become aware with the things that you excel at. The things people repeatedly compliment you about. The things that seem almost effortless to you, but difficult for others. That’s probably along the lines of your skills and talents which align with your God-given purpose. Stay focused on yours and not his or hers.
Okay friends. These three steps alone may take you a while so before you get overwhelmed, start with prayer, jot down your passions, and reflect on your purpose. When you get distracted, go back to the Bible and listen to God. We will get to more in the next blog.
Happy P-ing! :)
