How do YOU have fun?
What refreshes YOU and fills your cup?

If you find yourself not sure how to answer these questions, you’re not alone.

I was surprised when I took a friend out to lunch and she couldn’t answer these questions. She sat there wondering “What was fun?” She named things she did, but it was mostly to get her mind off of all the things she needs to do, but it wasn’t necessarily fun. This included scrolling social media or bigning on Netflix.

When I asked her what helped her relax and feel refreshed, she couldn’t think of anything either and she knew she needed to figure it out. And that’s the start of it!

I then realized that I myself had spent quite a bit of time figuring this out. After my own season of being extremely busy building a business, a home, a marriage, and having 2 babies, it took some work for me to figure out how to have fun again. And not only that, but it takes regular discipline to stick to the things that refresh me weekly. Sounds crazy, but I love work so much, that I need to schedule in fun for myself to remember to take a break and refresh!

So if this is you too, not to worry. You’re in good company.

And how will you figure out how to have fun?

Plan one thing a week (30 minutes to 1 hour) and then note if it’s something that you had fun doing or didn’t. Try painting, puzzles, decorating, gardening, walking, swimming, baking, reading, yoga, scrapbooking, shooting hoops, bike riding, soaking in a bubble bath, etc. Put it in your calendar and keep going as this may take time, but by process of elimination, you’ll figure it out. :)

And if you still don’t know where to start, here’s what I ironically stumbled over on my bible reading this morning that perhaps is a clue from God:

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” -Proverbs 11:25
