Financial Wellness - Monthly Budgeting

When you think of self-care, do you think about your income, expenses, & budgeting?

Usually not, but I have learned that one’s financial health (eg: debt) has a huge impact on their emotional health so striving to live financially well, is an important part of taking care of yourself and your family.

I once heard the quote “We measure our life by where we spend our time and money.”

If you are wondering where all your money is going, then keep track of where all your money is going. It’s very insightful and will help you to better manage how you spend your hard earned money.

I love Dave Ramsey and a good old financial book that was easy to follow and I actually thoroughly enjoyed, was “The Total Money Makeover.”

I enjoyed it so much that it motivated me to upgrade our family’s monthly budgeting spreadsheets, to something even more robust that I could track and visually see where our money was going in real time. And more importantly, I wanted to see side by side how we were spending compared to our budget.

I called a financial advisor and friend, Clifton, and asked him which app he recommended and he suggested Trubill or Every Dollar. Every Dollar is a Ramsey app so downloaded it for free and already am upgrading to the next level so I can geek out over pie charts and data analytics.

I have to say I’m super stoked about this. Try it with me as we start a new year! There’s no better time! :)

When we don’t have to worry about growing debt or overspending and can empower ourselves to live within our means and budget to hit the goals that really matter to us, we will feel financially free and well!

erin’s tip

I used to budget with plain white envelopes with categories written on top and track my spending with budgeted cash in each envelope. Times have changed so I have too, but do what works for you! Whatever will help YOU to be financially well.
