Book of Job
Want to read about someone who really experienced tough times? Read the book of Job and be encouraged by his unwavering faith in God.
The book of “Job” was never one of my favorites because you just feel so, so bad for the guy and it seems to drag on for forever. How ironic that the spelling of his name also spells job. A job, as in our work, can sometimes also feel like a place where we suffer or where we are dragging for the majority of our lives.
As I am currently reading this book, I am encouraged by Job’s trust in God despite all that he lost in just chapter 1 and the unimaginable heartache and hardship he faced from even his closest family and friends.
Here are a few of the scriptures I highlighted:
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised. In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.”
“Submit to God and be at peace with him.”

Every book in the Bible can teach us something. The book of Job is reminding me to trust God in everything because He sees everything, He allows everything, and is always in control.
