The Making of Harry Potter Japan

A major highlight of our most recent trip to Tokyo, was The Making of Harry Potter by Warner Brothers Studio!

My kids, niece, and nephews, my sister, and I, all read and watched The Harry Potter books/movies, but even the family who didn’t, found it fascinating!

The behind the scenes of the incredible work, detail, thought, and huge amounts of talent required by various departments to put together the famous book series turned movie series, was unbelievable! I think we stayed here for 4 hours, but if I did it at my own pace, it would have been 5-6 hours to take it all in.

It was such a high quality, well-done, self-guided tour with so much to see and learn including some of the real sets, props, and costumes from the movies.

There are two restaurants, a really great gift shop, and my kids wanted to be Harry and Hermoine for Halloween, so we invested in the quality cape and wands, but there really was so much more to go all out with your costume or if you are a big Harry Potter fan! And the wands can be customized for $10 more and the capes could be customized for free with your name, initials, or anything embroidered in just 20 minutes. Purchasing and putting on the cape and wand up before going into the tour, made it all the more fun for them to feel fully immersed in the experience. :)

So much more to say about this place that opened up just 3 years ago in Tokyo and a second location in London, but you have to see it for yourself. Here’s a sneak peek video of some of the amazing magic captured inside!

This experience was completely worth it…loved every single thing about it! And it’s crazy to think J.K. Rowling started with one manuscript and it wasn’t until 7 years later that she got her first book deal, which inspired this and so much more! It wasn’t with just a simple wave of a wand. ;)

Finding peace by piece:

When we don’t have much time and are trying to figure out what to do and see, we can find peace in learning from others’ experiences. Whether you love Harry Potter or the making of movies, or the behind the scenes of anything that large amounts of people have to put hard work into to make one thing come together, you’ll find a sort of satisfaction and peace in seeing the crazy thought and detail that went into each piece here.
