Intercontinental Porto Hotel
Ok. I loved this hotel!
When my friends and I took a day trip to Porto, we stayed at the Intercontinental Porto Hotel which seemed to be just a 2 minute walk away from the train station and where all the action was! Shopping, restaurants, the river were all walking distance. My friend booked this place as well and she did good!
I had a single room, but it was huge!!! High ceilings, tons of space, and a bathroom that even felt too big. I wish I had had more time to just hang out in the room with its big heavy dramatic curtains, a comfortable chair in the nook, and soft bed. It for some reason reminded me a bit of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel with a bit of an old regal feel to it.
The hotel had all the basic necessities and then some, great amenities, and a fabulous restaurant in the lobby with a daily breakfast buffet that made it all the more pleasant. My friends booked themselves a suite in this hotel with an outdoor little patio and a living room and a well stocked mini bar and a bedroom on the second floor with gorgeous views out.
It was really wonderful and I wish we had had more time to just relax. I would definitely stay here again.
finding peace by piece
I learned that international chain hotels like this one, give a sense of peace for travelers who go all over the world. The chain provides a consistency in comfort that they come to expect. That’s one of the benefits of being a member and staying in the same chain of hotels you are used to. It takes out the element of surprise which can sometimes cause more anxiety than fun. If you like to know what you’re getting, you may find peace by sticking to international names like IHG Hotels and Resorts.
