The old Genki’s on Kapahulu is a place we drive by often and look at and wonder if it’s any good? Do you do that on your drives past a restaurant and wonder?

Well, we finally had the opportunity to see inside at a dinner we were invited to and….it was soooo good! I’m so glad we went inside!

Everything was good. It was those kind of experiences that made me smile as each box was checked, because each dish that arrived on the table was delicious and we left completely satisfied and eager to return.

This Spanish Italian restaurant serves wood-fried pizzas, homemade pasta, grilled main dishes, tapas and wine.

The ambiance is beautiful and wide open and I guess the element of surprise in seeing the change while remembering the old set up, is what made it even more exciting.

We ate the garlic parmesan bread, crostini, ham platter, margherita pizza, carbonara, bolognese, angus prime sirloin, seafood paella, panna cottaa, dragonfruit gelato and chocolate cassata. (Thank you Kevin for all of the extras that you kept coming!)

Whatever the super friendly server dropped in front of us, they were all delicous. My husband and I agreed that everything was so amazing and we hope we can go back.

It’s such a great feeling when you discover a new place you love that you no longer drive past and wonder, but can invite friends to go inside with you!

erin’s tip

If you love pizza, pasta, and good drinks, take friends or family with you and share! Pass the plates and try it all! You won’t be disappointed.
