A Desk and Chair
I judge a space by the desk and chair because that’s where I want to spend most of my time. And the desk and chair in Ashley’s house, was a dream.
Who is Ashley? Never met her, but I’m sure if I did, I would love her because she set up her home to welcome guests, make them feel comfortable, and invite them to read, write, think, and do all of the things I love to do when I run check in for a few days to an Air B&B. I wrote all about Ashley’s house in a previous blog sent to email subscribers (sign up here to get this content).
Everyone judges an air b&b, hotel room, or guest house for different reasons. Sometimes it’s the view, the bedding, or the toiletries, but for me, it’s the desk. No desk? Then it’s a no go.
And that reminded me that we are all different and have different preferences and different purposes for getting away. Some check in to an air b&b to hide from life’s troubles, catch up on sleep, or just to get a good long nice shower. I go to do a lot of inner work on myself and be with God. It’s a quiet time where I sit with the things my busy and distracted life sometimes doesn’t want to and avoids. Like facing my fears and accepting the reality of the challenges in front of me, the hard work I need to do, and the lessons I still need to learn.
And so for me, a spot to read, write, and think is what I need. I need a desk and chair.
Do you need a desk and chair?
Whatever you need is what you need. Don’t judge or worry about what others are searching for. Let us find peace by piece in the desk, chair, etc that will help us do the work we need to do.
“Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.” -John 7:24
