Goats, Gates, & Greens
I recently took the kids and their cousins to a lovely goat farm and when I saw the pens of goats with nothing but dirt inside and green grass just around outside, I was reminded that goats eat everything!
They eat all of the green at their feet within the gate and will angle their heads and stick their necks out of the gate to get the greens you have in your hand.
And if you give them a chance, they will keep on eating wherever you let them go or whatever you give them a chance to try.
It made me think if we stay penned up and don’t explore beyond the gate and take the chance to stick our neck out, we may not get to enjoy the greens just waiting on the other side. It’s as if God is saying, I have so much more for you than dirt you know!
What is the green you are hoping for? Could it be that it’s just beyond your reach?
Let’s find peace by piece in believing for and looking out for the opportunity that someone will come by and extend their hand out to you or perhaps even open the gate to a pasture that’s waiting for you.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” -Psalm 23:1-3
