Delivering Christmas Gifts in September

Hi! “Running an Erin” to deliver Christmas gifts to the neighbors in September!

Does anyone else get overwhelmed with Christmas gift giving during the busy holiday season? Here’s a tip for friends and business owners alike!

We give out our Christmas gifts in September! On our business anniversary as we celebrate our birthday and another year in business, we give gifts to all of our partners, suppliers, subcontractors, our customers, and our neighbors…literally the folks within walking distance to thank them for their support.

As someone in the retail business, we have a lot more time in the summer/early fall months to make personal deliveries, hand written notes, and thoughtfully go through our list to thank others with joy. We feel at peace knowing we have some time to talk story a bit and make the gift giving feel authentic and genuine. And in the Christmas season, we don’t worry if someone drops off a gift to us that we have to return the favor right then and there. We can graciously accept it with peace and know we can always catch them on our birthday month.

This has truly brought us some peace to share our birthday month celebration with others and not overwhelm ourselves with more when we are busy trying to get the chocolate gifts to everyone else to giveaway.

You could do the same on your birthday month whether your personal birthday or the business’s birthday! Give gifts to everyone during your month rather than the holidays and keep Christmas time simple with maybe a note and a small piece of chocolate for everyone. :)

If your birthday is also during the holiday season, then how about Christmas in July?! I always find it more meaningful and fun to go shopping randomly pick up something someone will like that made you think of them rather than trying to pile up a bunch of gifts to then execute delivering all at once!

This the reason why I always keep a chocolate gift drawer too. When I see someone, I give them a some chocolates, and that’s my way of saying “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Birthday” or “Thank you” whatever time of the year it is, whenever I can. It makes the thought a lot sweeter.

erin’s tip:

Find a time that works for you and make it sweet, meaningful, and fun!
