A New Year

As mentioned in my new Blog Series for Choco le`a “The Sweet Life - Word of the Week” Here was the thought for the week for January 3rd:

“You’re invited to a new year!”

“You can be a new and better version of yourself if YOU want to!”

And here was the tip of the week:

Start with the big picture for 2022. Think about what kind of person you want to be and what kind of life you want to live and then fill your calendar with things that will get you towards that goal.

So to help you further with this tip. I start by focusing on one word or phrase for the year. I honestly wanted my word for 2022 to be “faith,” but year after year, the word is not one that I choose. It’s one that the Holy Spirit whispers to me as I seek His guidance and wisdom at the close of every year and the start of a new. It’s a word that usually keeps coming up and I can’t shake it. So instead of “faith,” He keeps taking me back to a word that is less fluffy and fun. :p I think my word for the year 2022 might be “discipline.”

I guess it’s the word to remind myself to stay disciplined to the call He gave me this year. To the family He entrusts me to care for. To the work He has assigned me to do. To the people He leads into my life to love. To the routines I must continue to discipline myself to do so it becomes a rhythm in my life.

So with that, I list out five things around this word of the year that I feel God is calling me to achieve in my:

  1. Faith

  2. Health/Self

  3. Family

  4. Others

  5. Work

To illustrate this even further, here are mine penciled out and not yet flushed to perfection, but a big picture to start with:

  1. Faith - To be disciplined to study His word daily, pray to Him first daily, and to trust in Him daily.

  2. Health/Self - To be disciplined to move my body daily, nourish it with things that fuel me with energy and joy, and to set boundaries that allow myself time to do the work I need to commit to in order to become the best version of myself.

  3. Family - To be disciplined to uplift my husband, train my children, and honor my parents.

  4. Others - To be disciplined to live by positive example to family, friends, my team, and anyone I cross paths with.

  5. Work - To be disciplined to stay in my area of expertise to envision, lead, connect, create, unite, and diversify our business to further fulfill our mission in more meaningful ways.

Hope this helps you to look at the big picture for your year starting by praying about the word you will receive. If you’re not to sure yet or uncertain you can hear the Holy Spirit just yet, feel free to use my word as your own too! :) Let’s do this! Here’s to 2022!
