Omiyage from Hokkaido and Nagoya
Our Japanese family tradition in Hawai`i is whenever you go on vacation, you bring back omiyage gifts for others. Family, friends, coworkers, your boss, neighbors…it’s a joy to bring back something to share!
And the easiest to bring back that everyone wants, is snacks! Especially from Japan! So here I’m sharing just some of the omiyage I brought home for our list of loved ones. It was a mix of things that included the senbei/crunchy snacks if there were kids, manju for the older neighbors, and of course something sweet for everyone!
Whenever I buy omiyage, I taste-test them all to know what was what and I discovered which one is my personal favorite and sharing it here! This little packaged bear found in Nagoya…but really, it’s any one that says milk an filled manju! I usually love any red or white bean filled mango, but this one with milk a was THE best! You’re welcome!
Finding peace by piece:
It is so hard to know what to bring back, especially when everything looks good and all of the packaging is so cute! So go with the recommendations first from others, try them yourself piece by piece, then relax with a peace of mind what your favorite is and stick with that for next time!
