Anthropologie

If you told me I could pick a store to have a year-round shopping spree for me, I would probably choose Anthropologie!

I first heard about Anthropologie in high school from my older sister who discovered the store on the mainland when she moved up for college. I remember visiting the store with her and my mom and being completely overwhelmed by how cute everything was. It’s like I was first discovering my favorite style, taste, and a look I loved. I had no idea that a retail store could be so much fun to be in!

The dresses were so unique and different from anything I’d seen in Hawai`i. Bold prints, unapologetic ruffles, laces, leopards and elephants, mix matched patchwork…kind of like anything goes, but still works together!

I vividly remember wandering around the big store and things that never interested a then teenager like me including door knobs, kitchen towels, and aprons suddenly made me feel like homes could be oh-so cute!

I also clearly remember looking at the price tags and thinking it was crazy expensive and there’s no way I’d ever be able to afford wearing clothes from there. No wonder I was in awe. I was being exposed to a different style of quality items than what I was used to.

Fast forward over 10 years laters and the news that Anthropologie was coming to Hawai`i, made me sooooo happy! I would finally get to walk around regularly in this place I had fallen in love with and now in my late twenties and earning a paycheck, I may actually be able to buy a few things.

When Anthropologie opened at Ala Moana and I had just one hour for myself to get out of the house, away from a newborn baby to just refresh, I’d go and browse their store. And not just browse, but I’ve been able to actually buy things from my dream store! And their clearance section is one of the only ones I don’t mind sorting through the mess so I don’t miss any good finds!

When you think of your happy store, this is it for me (other than our chocolate shop of course). ;) I love to be left alone to just wander, touch, try on, smell, and imagine a house completely decorated with Anthropologie things and places to go where I could wear all of their fun clothes.

This past Black Friday, I got a few pillows and soaps I’ve had my eye on for months and waited for the weekend’s rare major sale. It’ll be my Christmas gift to self. :)

What’s your favorite store with some of your favorite things?
