Japan Mimaru Hotel Recommendation
As you may or may not know by now, I have a love affair for hotels so am very particular about the room we book, and so I was in charge of researching the hotel for our Tokyo and Osaka family trip. :)
This time, I chose the Mimaru chain for our family who was very happy, and we would highly recommend it for other traveling families.
In searching for our hotel, it had to be:
Spacious (Japan hotels tend to be small)
Clean
Kid-friendly
Include a dining room table or enough seating for 4 to eat
Windows
In the $250 and under price range
I chose the Mimaru Tokyo Ueno East Hotel because it included all of the above I was looking for in a hotel and in the Ueno area (a major stop on the Yamanote line and with the zoo, museums, and park nearby, it’s a family friendly neighborhood).
We got all that I had hoped for and more!
This hotel also included other perks:
A kitchen which came in very handy especially with the extra large refrigerator space
An ideal bathroom set up separating the sink, toilet, and shower/tub
Washer and dryer on premise
English speaking staff
Games to rent for the kids
Under $200 per day
A rooftop terrace for the kids to run around a little
And even a Pokemon themed room if you wanted!
For the second half of our trip, we stayed at Mimaru Osaka Namba North because we wanted the consistency across the trip, which also made it easier to quickly familiarize ourselves at our next stop, know what to expect, and have our luggage easily transferred.
The fun for the kids at this hotel was the games in the lobby and the very big bunk bed in the room!
I, or I should say we, highly recommend this hotel chain.
erin’s tip
The investment in the hotel, is always worth it to me when traveling because I love to return to a space where I can feel comfortable and unwind. After being in tight spaces with lots of people all day, I want to relax in a clean and spacious room and maybe even take it easy with a meal inside.
