Jackson Chameleon Hunting

Not your typical Hawai`i guide activity, but that’s exactly what my husband wanted to treat our Japan family too…something not in a guide book!

If you know someone and they know where to go, Jackson Chameleon hunting is a fun free activity to do here in Hawai`i.

And by “hunting,” all we mean is taking lights at night and trying to spot them sleeping in the trees, taking some pics, then sending them back into the branches. Others will take them to sell, but we just enjoy the “hunt” of trying to find their bright green bodies among the green leaves.

Just wanted to share another fun thing you can take friends to do if they are not from here. We were thrilled when my host dad from Japan wanted to go because he said he doesn’t see Jackson Chameleon back home so it was something very different and unique to do!

Finding peace by piece:

Sometimes, the place to go is the place no one knows where to go. It’s where you can search for creatures who also call Hawai`i home.
