Fishing Farms Hawai`i
Here’s fun adventure/activity to do with the family! Especially with little ones!
Fishing Farms Hawai`i, located in Whitmore Village just past Wahiawa, is a low key simple spot to borrow a bamboo hand pole, bait, and sit around for a couple hours catching tilapia.
Little kids want to fish and it’s not always easy to do, but this is a great way to introduce them to the sport while supporting a local business.
What you should wear/bring:
Sunscreen
Hat
Sunglasses
Shoes you don’t mind getting dirty
Water bottle
Fold out chair/mat
Umbrella (for shade)
Camera
What you should do to make the most out of the experience:
Buy a pole & bait ($20 - This can be passed around and shared / $5 for each bystander and this includes up to 4 hours!)
Buy fish food to chum the water ($2/bag)
Take a bucket to keep your biggest catch
Cook your catch on-site (We suggest frying the fish & eating with sweet & sour sauce - We purchased 5 plates of about 5 pounds of fish to share for $78)
Plan to eat your fish for lunch
There are also some animals to see, chips, juice, & ice cream you can purchase, and if you want, you can go fishing for shrimp too. Don’t worry…if you don’t catch a big fish, they can also throw net and help you get your lunch to get cleaned to take home or to cook and enjoy there! :p
It can get hot and dirty, but it’s a lot of simple fun for the whole family!
erin’s tip
Plan to get a little dirty and do the whole experience in about 3 hours. But go to the bathroom before you head out! There’s only one porta potty!
