Tokyo Disneyland
Tokyo Disneyland was the #1 day voted by our kids on this trip. We spent about 6-7 hours there and went on 9 rides.
My husband prefers Tokyo Disneyland over California and lot of people have asked me what’s the difference. Though I can’t remember everything about the California, Disneyland, these are the major differences:
Tokyo Disneyland is more compact. Yes, there are less rides, but they are all closer together too so it’s easy to get around the whole park quickly. This is fine if you are looking to just do it in one day and hit the smaller kiddie rides which usually have short 20 minute lines on a weekday/non holiday.
Tokyo Disneyland is very clean and orderly. Everyone is standing in line rather quietly and calmly and the park is clean. It doesn’t feel stressful when you are waiting in lines.
Some rides are in Japanese. Yup, your Pinnochio, Peter Pan, and Winnie the Pooh are in Japanese so that does take out a little of the experience if you can’t understand.
Everyone is dressed up! Like literally everyone! The Japanese people go all out and are serious about their costumes. They are so fully dressed, it’s sometimes hard to tell who actually works at the park as an employee and who are guests! This makes standing in line entertaining because you can check out their costumes, bags, etc while you wait.
We love it here because the kids at this age, even have fun playing around on the props and are super content with not waiting in line for the longer 1 hour plus rides, and prefer going from one 20-30 minute ride to the next.
erin’s tip
Go when the weather is cool. Buy tickets in advance and express passes if you want to skip lines for the big rides (like the new Beauty and the Beast). Also, make sure your kid meets the height requirements so you know what you can/can’t do.
