Ruth’s Chris Fine Dining

Ok why is fine dining something I’m listing as a must do with a family of little ones? Because it is absolutely entertaining to see the world through kids’ eyes and the innocence of their questions at their first fine dining experience!

Ruth’s Chris was one of my first fine dining experiences in high school and my first taste of Filet Mignon and after that taste of steak, that was it!

Then my husband and I chose Ruth’s Chris when we finally had our first date night away from our first baby for a few hours to rekindle the flame! We had the BEST service and course, the best steak!

Then, when our second one went to preschool, he made really good friends with a girl in his class, who’s dad worked at Ruth’s Chris. Come to find out, her dad was our previous most awesome waiter we had and both agreed we remembered him for his exceptional service. It was no wonder we both felt like he was already a friend when we met at the preschool and his name is also, Chris!

So we decided to treat our kids to a nice dinner where they could see where Conner’s friend’s dad works. Plus, my 7-year old has a palate, appreciates fine quality, and wants to be a chef so she definitely appreciates the experience. Plus we had another special reason to celebrate…both kids can sit nicely for 2 hours. ;) (no devices) And all the parents of littles said, “Amen!”

I can’t even tell you how many little precious moments there were tin addition to the best food, service, and nostalgic rich ambiance of good old Restaurant Row. But seeing it again through my kids’ eyes was a completely different experience!

I also got excited as their eyes lit up when we got champagne and the bubbles in the drink never stopped. Watching them try and copy us as put their napkins on their lap while asking a server how long it takes them to fold their fancy napkins. The surprise when we learned there was a kids’ menu and they could get their own steak. They were thrilled! Their double thumbs up on the food, the comfy booth, their question about party rooms, and everything they observed.

But my favorite was when they asked, “What’s an appetizer” as my 7-year old read the menu. I explained it as “food you get before dinner” and they were thrilled about such an interesting concept! Plus dessert….flaming strawberries?! They weren’t sure if they were scared, amazed, or confused. LOL. I just watched their expressions change all night.

But by far, the two best things was having Chris as our server, seeing him in action, his genuine love for his work and his customers, and him taking us into the kitchen!!!

The way to my heart is to show me “behind the business!” I am most interested in seeing how everything works and the people behind it all. Plus, letting my little wanna be chef in the back to see all the chefs in action AND give her a chance to torch her own creme brulee and garnish it with fruits in Ruth’s Chris, was a dream come true! Gah!!!

I was so proud of how they both did and couldn’t believe I actually got to sit next to my husband and they could sit across from us! Instead of each one take one kid, we all sat there together as a family, and built a fine dining memory. Their first one will have their mom and dad smiling across from them in it!

Thank you to my Chris, our server Chris, and thank you Ruth’s Chris!
