Orchids at the Halekulani Hotel
If you need to find a special place to entertain guests, I highly suggest Orchids at the Halekulani Hotel. This is one of my favorite places for breakfast. Or any meal!
There’s nothing I’ve had at Orchids that I didn’t like and over the years, I have been there for breakfast, lunch, tea, and dinner.
Anytime I have to host someone from Japan, I take them there. If there’s a special celebration, I find myself there. And even one time when I was super depressed, I splurged and asked my best friend to meet me there for dinner.
Last year I took my CFO there for a celebratory dinner at year-end. And this year-end, I went to do some reflecting by myself.
This time, I tried something different other than my usual pancakes, French toast, waffles, bacon and hash browns that I LOVE.I opted to try the “Kai” set Japanese breakfast menu and it was sooooooo amazing! An incredible variety of pickled vegetables with soft fish, warm miso soup, and a bowl of rice. It was also a complete set so had some fruit juice, fresh local pineapples, and finished it off with a tea.
And besides the food at Orchids, the view, the ambiance, the set up is perfect. I mean I love everything from the color of the blue and the fabric on the chairs to every detail of this restaurant. I’ll probably write a whole other blog about Orchids under the category of “Place” since it’s a place where I’ve witnessed their care for changing the white table linen cloths, placing fresh orchid flowers on the tables, and arranging spotless dishes.
AND besides the food and ambiance, the service is incredible! I’ve had Jhummel, David, and a few other folks who are so nice and you know it’s a special place when they call you, “Mrs. Uehara.” :) Feels a bit like being royalty for a minute if you ask me. (Actually, I once sat one table away from royal celebrities there!)
I highly, highly recommend Orchids at the Halekulani Hotel!

Take someone really special who appreciates all of the fine things in life or who maybe doesn’t normally have the opportunity experience such class, care, and royal treatment!
