Labeled Cardboard Boxes
Some things can look like rubbish to us, but are very valuable to others. Which is why we might need to label our things to communicate how important something is.
That’s what the kids did after I threw away numerous cardboard boxes and pieces of “rubbish” around the house as I cleaned, only to find out through their disappointment that that was “part of their clubhouse” or the “fort for the dinosaurs” or some other part of what they were playing with and they were not done with it yet.
I told them, if it’s lying around and looks like rubbish, it will get mistaken for rubbish.
And so instead of putting it away, they left things out, but labeled it.
I had to laugh because they saw the value in these boxes and wanted them out because it was where they were playing. And because it was now marked with their names on it, I felt like I had to ask them for permission first because it belonged to them.
Did you know that you are valuable? That God does not see you as rubbish, but as someone He deeply treasures?
We can find peace by piece in accepting the label He has put on us.
“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” -Ephesians 1:13-14
