Tennis

When I had a son, I had always hoped that one day he would choose a sport that I could play with him. I imagined that even if we had nothing to say to each other when he was a teenager, we could at least shoot some hoops together.

The vision of that future opportunity to be with him, motivates me to work out so I can keep up and stay in good enough shape that I will always be someone he wants to play with.

Recently, out the blue, our five-year old son asked us if he could play tennis. This was a complete surprise since neither my husband nor I play, we don’t want it on TV, and he doesn’t have friends who play or talk about it.

We’ve asked him if he wanted to try soccer, baseball, or basketball with his friends to which he said confidently, “No.” So, when he made the initiative and asked us if he could try tennis, I immediately said “yes” and began researching.

I called the only friend I knew who had kids in tennis (also a chocolate friend) and he led me to the most amazing coach and assistant coach! We are beyond thrilled to be with them and the tennis friends we now have!

I don’t know much about tennis, but I am grateful it is a sport that I can see myself playing with him until he grows old. :) At least that’s what I hope! Now I need to get a racket…

Find a physical activity you can do for years to come with those you love. It will give you both exercise while you experience fun times together!
